On July 1, 2024, the Salzburg state parliament passed an amendment to the Salzburg Overnight Stay Tax Act with the introduction of a mobility tax of € 0.50. This mobility tax allows all registered overnight guests to use all public transport (bus, train) in the province of Salzburg free of charge.

The only access is via Kaltbachstrasse/Herbergsgasse. (No entry through Eschengasse!)
Coming from the North/South (toll €6,-): Take the A10 Tauern Motorway to the St. Michael im Lungau exit – Keep right after the toll booth – Straight ahead – Immediately after the St. Michael town sign, turn left and follow the signs.
Coming from the East: At Scheifling, take the B96 towards Murau/A10 Tauern Motorway – Continue towards Tamsweg – Straight ahead – At Mauterndorf, follow signs towards A10 Tauern Motorway – Straight ahead towards A10 Tauern Motorway/St. Michael – Turn left into the town – Just before the end of the town (town sign), sharp right turn – Follow the signs.
Coming from the South (no tunnel toll): Take the A10 Tauern Motorway to the Rennweg exit – Drive on the B99 over the Katschberg – Turn left into the town of St. Michael – Just before the end of the town, sharp right turn – Follow the signs. Note: Snow chains are required in winter; steep ascent!
Coming from the North (no tunnel toll): Take the A10 Tauern Motorway to the Radstadt exit – Drive on the B99 to Radstadt – Continue on the B99 towards Obertauern/Radstädter Tauern – At Mauterndorf, head towards St. Michael/A10 Tauern Motorway – Turn left into the town – Just before the end of the town (town sign), sharp right turn – Follow the signs. Note: Radstädter Tauern is partially closed in winter!”
