The Styrian village of Donnersbachwald, embedded in the Enns Valley, belongs to the Holiday Region Schladming-Dachstein. Our alpine experience and holiday village is located directly on the Riesneralm, surrounded by majestic peaks and lush alpine meadows.
The children-friendly JUFA Hotel Donnersbachwald*** offers active families and outdoor enthusiasts ideal opportunities. Numerous hiking paths and mountain bike trails, opportunities for rafting, climbing attempts on artificial rocks. In the winter, skiing holidays start straight from the JUFA Hotel, right onto the slopes!
Children can freely let off steam, in the hotel, as well as outdoors! The youngest guests are in good hands in the game room and the pet zoo hut ensures fun with the animals on the daily schedule. Parents can enjoy the sun on the terrace, sitting together for a cosy chat. The terrace is also a great meeting-point in the evening. Enjoy the scenery, the fresh mountain air and the star-studded sky with a glass of wine – a perfect moment!
The winter sports region´s altitude of 5970 feet above the sea level, also ensures snow until the spring. Ski slopes, which are up to 7 km long and with a difference in altitude of 2950 feet, feature first-class winter outdoor enjoyment – adequate for young and old slope-riders. In particular, the 1st. Austrian children´s ski swing and a five hectare-sized children´s ski resort are part of the very attractive infrastructure of this ski resort. NEW in 2024/25: An extended children’s ski area was officially opened in December 2024. Among other things, there are three new pistes, a new conveyor belt and a new valley station building.
Tour hikers, cross-country skiers and snow-shoe hikers will also find the ideal conditions here – unforgettable winter days are ensured amidst stunning alpine scenery!

Getting there
The JUFA Hotel Donnersbachwald*** is located in the centre of the village of Donnersbachwald. The valley station of the Riesneralm ski area and hiking paradise is only a few minutes’ walk away.
Travelling from the North/South: Travelling from the North/South: Via the A10 Tauern motorway to the Exit Radstadt – Schladming – direction Liezen, just before Stainach (about 1 km) – Irdning turn right – approx. 3 km turn right to Donnersbach – afterwards 11 km straight ahead, over a beautifully built mountain road, there you will find the JUFA hotel.
Travelling from Salzburg – („Deutsches Eck“): A8 direction Munich – border Austria-Germany (Walserberg) – in the city Salzburg take the A 10 Tauern motorway and continue to the exit Radstadt – Schladming – direction Liezen, just before Stainach (about 1 km) – Irdning turn right – after approx. 3 km turn right to Donnersbach – afterwards 11 km straight ahead, over a beautifully built mountain road to Donnersbachwald directly to the JUFA hotel.
Travelling from Germany: Travelling from Germany: A8 direction Salzburg – at the motorway junction Inntal take the A93 towards Innsbruck / Kufstein / Brenner – exit Kufstein Süd – direction Kitzbühel / St. Johann in Tirol / Felbertauern – B173 – B178 – AS St. Johann / Tirol – B161 / Pass-Thurn-Strasse – Kitzbühel – Mittersill – Direction Zell am See – Motorway entrance Bischofshofen – Motorway exit Radstadt – Schladming – direction Liezen, just before Stainach (about 1 km) – turn right at Irdning – after 3 km turn right to Donnersbach – then continue straight ahead for 11 km, on a beautifully built mountain road to Donnersbachwald directly to the JUFA hotel.
